Συζήτηση του TAP με τα μέλη του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου με θέμα τον Νότιο Διάδρομο Φυσικού Αερίου

16 Μάρτιος 2011

This event is organized with the support of the Italian Members of the Parliament Patrizia Toia and Amalia Sartori. The participants of the seminar will include Italian MEPs, representatives of various Italian institutions and Italian industry associations in Brussels.

Nicolò Sartori, security, defense and energy issues researcher from the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), Rome, will introduce the concept of the Southern Gas Corridor and its significance for the Italian energy market.

Davide Rubini, Commercial Advisor at TAP, will present the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project and explain its competitive features such as the shortest pipeline length, ability to expand the capacity on demand from 10 to 20 bcm, technical and commercial advantages. “Italy needs additional energy supplies from alternative sources. It’s in Italy’s interest to support the most realistic and commercially sensible pipeline project in order to win the race for Caspian gas. “ – explains Rubini.

TAP’s goal is to raise awareness about the project among key Italian decision makers at the European Parliament and receive their support for creation of the “level playing field” and fair competition rules for all pipeline projects in the Southern Gas Corridor.

The EU Parliament plans to approve a set of amendments on the European Energy Infrastructure package on the 17th of March. The document defines which criteria an energy project should meet in order to be considered a “project of European interest”. TAP has previously provided its recommendations and comments to the European Parliament on this topic.
